Hearth pads are another option for protecting your floor from heat damage. Hearth pads are typically made of non-combustible materials, such as stone, tile, or metal. They are installed around the perimeter of the stove to create a fire-resistant barrier.

Installing a Heat Shield or Hearth Pad

Before installing a heat shield or hearth pad, it is important to clean the floor thoroughly. This will help to prevent dirt and debris from getting trapped between the heat shield or hearth pad and the floor, which could increase the risk of fire.

To install a floor-mounted heat shield, simply place it on the floor beneath the stove. Make sure that the heat shield is large enough to extend at least 18 inches beyond the front of the stove and 6 inches beyond the sides and back of the stove.

To install a stove-mounted heat shield, attach it to the bottom of the stove according to the manufacturer's instructions. Make sure that the heat shield is securely attached and that it extends at least 12 inches beyond the front of the stove and 6 inches beyond the sides and back of the stove.

To install a hearth pad, place it around the perimeter of the stove. Make sure that the hearth pad extends at least 6 inches beyond the front of the stove and 3 inches beyond the sides and back of the stove.
